Workplace safety regulations are essential procedures designed to prevent accidents, injuries, and fatalities by creating a secure, organized, and compliant environment.
1. Safety is everyone's responsibility and it starts with compliance.
You're responsible for your own safety and the safety of others. This can only be achieved if you comply by wearing your ppe's failure to which you will be prone to injuries and accidents.
2. All accidents are preventable and irreversible- e.g. if you fall down a because of spillages in your workspace, you can't reverse that process. However you can prevent it by wearing harnessed boots
3. Follow company rules, regulations and procedures- (not to punish anyone) they are there to protect you.
- you should do so willingly and encourage others to do so.
4. Assess the risks before undertaking a task
Stop and think, before acting.
Avoid knee-jerk Reaction: An immediate, unthinking reaction.
5. Be proactive about safety- means understanding accident causes and making the necessary changes. Know the hazards in your workspace and how you can eliminate them.
6. If you're not trained, don't risk it, don't do it.
Performing tasks without proper instruction or qualification is unacceptable.

7. Manual handling - manage the lift by sizing up the load (i.e. assess its shape, size and weight) Determine where the load needs to be moved and placed.
8. Don't take short cuts - they will always lead to near misses and accidents. It fosters poor safety culture.
9. Practice good house keeping(5s)- you'll reduce the possibility of slipping, tripping and falling. You allow positive energy to flow in your workspace. So if your workspace is disorganised....
10. Be prepared always. Be aware always- Because there may be an accident waiting to happen.
Every accident is a notice that something is wrong with your safety standards.
