Gospel: Matthew 13:44-52
Katika injili ya leo Yesu anatoa mifano mitatu kuhusu ufalme wa Mbinguni.
1. Hazina iliyositirika katika shamba
2. Mfanya biashara mwenye kutafuta lulu nzuri 3. Juya au wavu uliotupwa baharini na kukusanya samaki wa kila namna.
Mfano huu tunaweza kuufananisha na kazi ya kuubiri injili. Wakati injili inapohubiriwa huko nje, Kanisani, redioni ama kwa TV inahubiriwa kwa watu wa mataifa yote. Yaani ujumbe huu wa wokovu hauchagui wala kubagua.
Mathayo 13.24-43
Katika injili ya leo Yesu anapeana mifano mitatu kuhusu ufalme wa Mbinguni. Magugu na ngano kondeni (amewafafanulia wanafunzi wake kwa kina na kuwaonya wajiepushe na ibilisi aside akawakusanya kama magugu na kuwatupa motoni), punje ya haradali na chachu.
Punje ya haradali (mustard seed) Ni mbegu ndogo zaidi lakini ikipandwa na kukomaa, inakuwa mti mkubwa zaidi ya miti yote na ndege wa angani huja na kujenga viota kwa matawi yake.
(Kuna mbegu kubwa kama avocado, maembe) Lakini ikipandwa inakuwa mti mdogo
Na tunaeza sema kwamba mfano huu unawakilisha jinsi Kanisa na ufalme wa Mungu ulivyoanza. Yesu akianza huduma alianza na kikundi kidogo sana cha wafuasi kumi na wawili.
Licha ya udogo huu, nguvu ya injili iliweza kuenea duniani kote kutoka mwanzo huo mdogo hadi kufikia mamilioni ya waamini leo.
Na kama vile ndege wa angani wanavyoingia na kujenga viota katika mti huu, sisi wakristo pia tunaambiwa tumkimbilie Kristo na tujenge makao yetu ndani yake, na tuwe na tumaini kwamba siku moja tutaweza kuingia katika ufalme wa Mungu na kupata pumziko, wokovu na uzima wa milele.
Ujumbe wa leo ni kwamba juhudi ndogo au hatua za kiroho tunazochukua hii leo kama vile maombi au ushuhuda zinaweza kuleta matokeo makubwa ya kiroho baadaye.

Badala yake unapaswa kuujenga uhusiano wa karibu na Yesu Kristo, ambaye siku zote ako tayari kukupunguzia uzito wa maisha, na kukupa amani unayohitaji moyoni mwako.

Mathew 10.37-42
Yesu katika injili ya leo anatufundisha kuhusu gharama na vile vile baraka zinazotokana na kumfuata yeye. Na anasema kwamba mojawapo ya hizo gharama ni kumpenda na kumtii kushinda familia yako na hata nafsi yako mwenyewe.
Na ikiwa kuna kitu kinachokuzuia kumpenda na kumtii Yesu, basi kama wewe ni mwanafunzi wa kweli ni lazima ukiache na umfuate Yesu.
Katika Biblia kuna wafuasi wengi wa Yesu ambao waliamua kulipia gharama hii na wakapata malipo na baraka zake baadaye.
For example:
St. Stephen was stoned to death after defending his faith before the Jewish high court (the Sanhedrin) in Jerusalem.
The reward - St. Stephen's immediate reward was a divine vision of heaven opening, where he saw the glory of God and Jesus standing at God's right hand.
Because of this ultimate sacrifice, he also received the "Crown of Life" as the first Christian martyr.
St. Peter: A foundational leader of the early Church was arrested and crucified in because following Christ and preaching the gospel. Requesting not to die the same way as his Lord, he was crucified upside down.
Jesus rewarded him by establishing him as the "Rock" upon which the Church would be built, granting him the Keys of the Kingdom of Heaven.
Our own Saint Matthias was condemned and killed because of following Christ and preaching Christianity. What was his reward?
Before his death he received the reward of the apostolic office when he replaced Judas Iscariot. After his death He was also venerated as a martyr for defending his faith.

Saint Anthony of Padua died on June 13 1231 and was canonized on May 30, 1232, by Pope Gregory IX at Spoleto, Italy. Taking place just 11 months after his death, it remains one of the fastest canonizations in the history of the Catholic Church.
It happened because of the miracles which were associated with him before and after his death.

01. The first reason is that opponents will not be able to prevent Jesus’ followers from succeeding in their mission because God will expose their evil plans and deeds: “nothing is covered up that will not be uncovered.” The Lord “will bring to light the hidden things of darkness” (1 Cor 4:5), and will vindicate the faithful. That God will not permit evil to win is the promise of v. 26.
2.The second reason not to be afraid is the limited power of our opponents. They can kill the body, which dies all too soon anyway, but have no power over the soul. Only God has power over eternity.
3. The third reason we should not be afraid is God’s compassionate love. We are more important to God than sparrows. Matthew speaks of two sparrows sold for one penny. The God who cares for a trivial bird like the sparrow also cares about our smallest problems – even the hairs on our heads are counted. While this is an encouraging assurance, it may be difficult to believe in the midst of persecution. But God knows everything that we go through – nothing that happens to us escapes Him.
Yesu anawapa wanafunzi wake ujasiri wanapokabili mateso na upinzani katika kazi ya injili. Ujumbe mkuu ni kwamba hawapaswi kuogopa kwa sababu Mungu anawajua, anawathamini, na atathibitisha ukweli wao siku ya mwisho.

Matthew 9:37-38 says, "Then he said to his disciples, The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."
Imagine you are standing in front of an orchard filled with fruit trees.
The trees are heavy with fruit, ready to be picked.
The orchard is so large that it stretches as far as the eye can see, and the fruit is abundant, just waiting to be harvested.
However, there are only a few workers in the field, and the task of gathering all the fruit seems overwhelming.
If the fruit isn't picked in time, much of it may spoil and go to waste.
The orchard represents the world, and the ripe fruit symbolizes the many people who are ready to hear and receive the message of God's love and salvation.
The few workers represent us who are called to share this message.
The task is huge, and there are so many who need to hear the Good News, but there are not enough workers to reach everyone.
Jesus' words are a call to action, asking us to pray for more workers…people who will go out and share God's love with others.
Just as a bountiful harvest requires many hands to gather all the fruit, spreading the message of the Gospel requires many believers to step up and be part of God's mission.
By praying for and becoming workers in the "harvest field," we help see that the "fruit" is gathered and that no one is left unreached!

Just as Type AB blood receives all other blood types, Jesus Christ—through His sacrifice—receives and offers universal salvation to everyone regardless of one's background.
There are very many eucharist miracles which have taken place upto date, but what can we learn from these two:
1. It's our duty and responsibility to accord the body and blood of Christ the respect it deserves (The walk of the saints)
2. It's also our duty and obligation as Christians to belief that Jesus Christ is truly, substantially, and fully present in the consecrated bread and wine- present in terms of body, blood, soul and divinity.

Katika injili ya leo, Yohana anatupa nafasi ya kipekee ya kusikiliza mazungumzo ya ndani na tena ya kina baina ya Yesu na Babake wa Mbinguni.
Mazungumzo haya kwa hakika ni sala ambayo Yesu anaitoa baada ya kuandaa karamu ya mwisho, muda mfupi tu kabla ya kukamatwa na kusulibiwa kwake.

This is an emotional prayer that Jesus is making to His Heavenly Father on our behalf because he knows very well that he is going to be crucified and leave us in a very hostile world. A place where there are constant challenges.
Na ndio maana kwa wakati mmoja Yesu akasema kwamba ulimwenguni mnayo dhiki, jipeni moyo. Hakusema eti ulimwengu umejaa dhiki poleni sana.

1. Kupenda na kutii amri za Mungu
Yesu anasisitiza kuwa upendo wa kweli kwake sio maneno tu, bali ni utii wa matendo kwa mafundisho yake.
Upendo huu haupaswi kuwa wa hofu au kulazimishwa, bali ni matokeo ya uhusiano binafsi na Yeye.
Yeyote anayeshika amri zake anampenda Yesu, na atapendwa na Baba, na Yesu atajidhihirisha kwake.
2. Ahadi ya Roho Mtakatifu (mtetezi, mshauri, mfariji)
Ahadi ya Roho Mtakatifu ni uhakikisho wa Mungu kwa waumini kwamba atakaa ndani yetu, atatutia nguvu, na kutuwezesha kutimiza kusudi lake la kiungu duniani.

Yohana 14:15-21 ni sehemu ya mazungumzo ya faraja ya Yesu na wanafunzi wake kabla ya kusulubiwa kwake, akiahidi uwepo wa Roho Mtakatifu na kuelezea uhusiano kati ya upendo na utii.
Hapa kuna ufafanuzi wa kina wa mstari kwa mstari:
1. Upendo na Utii (Mstari 15, 21)
"Mkinipenda, mtazishika amri zangu" (15): Yesu anasisitiza kuwa upendo wa kweli kwake sio maneno tu, bali ni utii wa matendo kwa mafundisho yake.
Kushika amri kama kipimo: Upendo huu haupaswi kuwa wa hofu au kulazimishwa, bali ni matokeo ya uhusiano binafsi na Yeye.
Ahadi kwa watii (21): Yeyote anayeshika amri zake anampenda Yesu, na atapendwa na Baba, na Yesu atajidhihirisha kwake.

2. Ahadi ya Msaidizi (Roho Mtakatifu) (Mstari 16-17)
Msaidizi mwingine (16): Yesu anaahidi kuomba Baba awape "Msaidizi" (Kigiriki: Parakletos - yaani mtetezi, mshauri, mfariji) mwingine.í
Roho wa Kweli (17): Msaidizi huyu ni Roho Mtakatifu, ambaye ulimwengu hauwezi kumpokea kwa sababu haumwoni wala haumtambui, lakini atakaa ndani ya waamini milele.

3. Ahadi ya Kutokuwa Yatima (Mstari 18-20)
"Sitawaacha yatima" (18): Yesu anawahakikishia wanafunzi kuwa hataondoka na kuwaacha bila msaada; atarudi kwao kupitia Roho Mtakatifu.
Uhai mpya (19): Kwa sababu Yesu yu hai (kupitia ufufuo), waamini nao wataishi.
Umoja na Kristo (20): Siku hiyo, wanafunzi watatambua kuwa Yesu yuko ndani ya Baba, na wao wako ndani ya Yesu, na Yesu yuko ndani yao.

Muhtasari wa Ujumbe

Injili ya leo ni sehemu ya hotuba ya mwisho ya Yesu kwa wanafunzi wake kabla ya kusulubiwa kwake.
Na madhumuni ya hotuba hii ilikua ni kuwafariji, kuwatia moyo, na kuwahakikishia kwamba hata kama anaondoka na kwenda kuwaandalia makao Mbinguni kwa Baba yake, atakuwepo pamoja nao.

So today's Gospel is simply a call to all of us as believers to teach ourselves how to trust in God's divine wisdom, instead of relying on our own limited understanding or relying on the consensus of the majority.
Gospel: Luke 24.13-35
(Safari ya Emau)
Tuko kwenye kipindi cha pasaka ambacho ni kipindi muhimu sana katika kalenda ya wakristo. In fact, Easter is the central concept of Christian theology. This is because during this season we celebrate three important events in Christianity: The crucifixion, death, and more importantly the resurrection of Jesus Christ, which is the ultimate victory over death and sin.
Tuseme kwa mfano Yesu angekufa alafu akose kufufuka. Ingekuaje? Ofcourse Christianity would have lacked its foundational claim to a living saviour.
Crucifixion could be rendered as a baseless and tragic historical event rather than a triumph.
So tungekua tunasema tu Yesu alisulubiwa na akakufa na story inaishia hapo.
But that is not the case. We can now confidently say that He was crucified, died, buried and rose on the third day, atleast according to the scriptures, including the one we've heard today which is talking about the road to Emmaus. Yaani safari ya kuelekea Emau.
And as I was listening to today's gospel I just thought for a moment that mara kwa mara huwa tunajipata kwa safari ya kutoka mahali fulani kuelekea mahali pengine.
Maybe kutoka Nairobi kuelekea mashambani, ama kutoka kwa nyumba kuelekea kazini, Kanisani ama kwa jumuiya.
So unapata masaa ya kuanza safari ikikaribia kuna kitu kinakuwasha kwa roho. Kinakuambia toka. Mpaka hata roho inaanza kupiga piga kwa nguvu until you fulfil that desire.
And that is what happened to those disciples who were travelling from Jerusalem to Emmaus. Maandiko yamesema kwamba mioyo yao iliwaka ndani yao hadi walipomuona Kristo na kushiriki naye.

Kipindi cha kwaresma ni kipindi cha toba, sala, kufunga, pamoja na utoaji.
Na tunapoelekea mwisho wa kipindi hiki, ni vizuri tujikumbushe kwa kifupi tu baadhi ya masomo ya injili ambayo tumekua tukiyasoma katika kipindi hiki.
Kwa mfano kuna hadithi ya yule mwanamke Msamaria alivyokutana na Yesu pale kisimani, kuna hadithi ya Lazaro was bethania alivyofufuliwa na Yesu, na yule mwanaume aliyezaliwa kipofu.
Masomo hayo yamekua ni marefu sana, ikiwemo injili ambayo tumesomewa leo kanisani (ambayo ilikua ndefu zaidi)
Na vizuri kuelewa kwamba urefu wa masomo haya ni makusudi ya Kanisa ili kutusaidia sisi kama waumini "kurarua mioyo yetu" kwa toba ya kweli katika kipindi hiki cha kwaresma, na kuondoka kwenye giza na kuingia katika kipindi cha pasaka tukiwa kwenye mwanga wa Kristo.

Huyu Yesu pia alipitia kipindi cha giza alipokua jangwani akifunga na kuomba, huku akistahimili makali ya njaa na kiu, pamoja na majaribu ya shetani. Pia alipokufa aliweza kukaa kwenye kipindi cha giza lakini baada ya siku tatu alishinda mauti na kuleta nuru ulimwenguni.
Mimi na wewe pia labda tumeweza kupitia katika kipindi cha giza kwa wakati mmoja au mwingine. Lakini haijalishi.
Cha msingi na cha kufurahia ni kwamba Yesu ametupa matumaini makubwa sana katika qinjili ya leo. Matumaini ya kutoka kwenye giza na kuingia kwenye nuru. Matumaini ya kutoka kwenye huzuni na kuingia kwenye furaha. Na hii ni kwa sababu kaburi ni tupu. Manake Yesu amefufuka! Na kufufuka kwake ni ishara tosha kwamba giza na mauti, pamoja na dhambi zimeshindwa.
Kufufuka kwake ni ishara kwamba kuna tumaini la uzima wa milele licha ya magumu yote tunayopitia hapa duniani.
Kwa hivyo cha kufanya sasa hivi sisi kama wakristo ni kuondoka kwenye giza tukiwa pamoja na Yesu, na kuanza safari yetu ya imani na kuelekea kwenye mwanga, kama vile Mariamu Magdalene pamoja na wale wanafunzi walivyofanya.
Na tunapoondoka tusiondoke kama watu wanaoishi katika giza, bali kama watu wanaoishi katika nuru ya ufufuo.
Kwa hivyo wito wa injili ya leo ni kwetu sisi wote tuweze kuitayarisha mioyo yetu ili tuweze kufufuka pamoja na Kristo.

Kipindi kile Yesu akiwa duniani kulikua na chuki kati ya Wayahudi na . Hii ni kwa sababu Wayahudi waliwachukulia wasamaria kama watu wasiomjua Kristo na wenye dhambi. Na kabila hizi mbili hazikua zinashirikiana wala kutangamana kwa jambo lolote lile.
Na ndiposa Yesu anapoenda kisimani na kuomba maji mwanamke huyu anamwambia hapana siwezi! Mimi ni Msamaria, wewe ni Myahudi na hatuna ushirikiano wowote.
Lakini Yesu anaamua Kuvunja mila na desturi hizo za Kiyahudi na kukutana na mwanamke huyu.
Baadaye Yesu anajitambulisha kama Masihi na kutoa wokovu kwake pamoja na kumfunulia maisha yake ya siri.
Na jambo hilo linamfanya mwanamke huyu kuanza kueneza injili kwa wasamaria wenzake ambao baadaye waliweza kumwamini Yesu kama mwokozi wa ulimwengu.
Wasamaria wamempata Kristo na kumaliza kiu yao.
Kwa hivyo injili ya leo ni wito kwa watu wote walio na kiu. Haijalishi kiu yako ni ya aina gani. Labda kiu yako ni ya kupata uzima wa milele. Yesu anasema yeye ndiye njia ya uzima. Labda kiu yako ni ya dhambi. Yesu anakwambia njoo kisimani upate maji ya uzima na utasamehewa dhambi zako.
Labda umechoka ama umekata tamaa katika maisha. Yesu anakuita uje kisimani unywe maji bila malipo.
Na kwa sababu yeye ndiye Kisima cha uzima na maji yaliyo hai, atatia ndani yako chemichemi ya maji ambayo yatabubujikia uzima wa milele.
Mungu ni Mwema...
Ee Bwana Mungu wetu, dunia imejaa vishawishi na changamoto nyingi. Tusaidie kushinda majaribu yote yanayotukumba. Tunapojaribiwa, tukumbushe neno lako. Tupe nguvu ya kusema hapana kwa dhambi, na utuongoze kutembea katika utakatifu wako siku zote.
Mathew 3.1-12
Kifungu cha leo ni wito wa haraka wa kuandaa mioyo yetu kupitia kwa toba ya kweli ili kumpokea yesu Kristo ambaye ndiye mwana pekee wa Mungu mwenye uwezo wa kusamehe dhambi na kuleta utakaso duniani.
Na kama vile Yohana alivyotimiza unabii wa kuandaa njia kwa ajili ya Bwana, na sisi pia tunaalikwa siku ya leo tuendelee kujiandaa na kunyoosha mapito yetu kwa ajili ya ujio wa Yesu Kristo.
Tukumbuke kwamba maandalizi yanayohitajika hapa si maandalizi ya kimwili au ya kisherehe, bali ni maandalizi ya kiroho. Maandalizi ya kina ya moyo ili kuyapokea mafundisho yake Yesu Kristo na kuendelea kuishi kulingana na mapenzi yake.
Mungu ni mwema....
Katika Mathayo 5:13-16, Yesu anawafundisha wanafunzi wake kuwa "Chumvi ya Dunia" na "Mwanga wa Ulimwengu." Ujumbe huu unasisitiza wajibu wa Wakristo kuwa na ushawishi chanya, kuzuia uharibifu wa maadili (kama chumvi), na kuonyesha ukweli na matendo mema (kama mwanga) ili watu wamtukuze Mungu.

Kazi ya Chumvi: Kama vile chumvi inavyohifadhi chakula na kukoleza ladha, Wakristo wanaitwa kuzuia uharibifu wa kiroho na kimaadili duniani.
Kupoteza Ladha: Yesu anaonya kuwa chumvi ikipoteza ladha (kama mkristo atakapofanana na dunia), haifai tena. Hii ina maana umuhimu wa kudumisha maisha ya utakatifu.
Mwanga wa Ulimwengu (Mstari 14-16):
Mwanga Uliofichika: Wakristo hawawezi kufichika, kama mji ulio juu ya mlima. Wanapaswa kuonekana kwa matendo yao.
Taa Juu ya Kinara: Nuru haipaswi kufunikwa. Wakristo wanapaswa kuangaza ukweli wa Kristo katika jamii, kuongoza watu kutoka gizani.
Matendo Mema: Lengo la kuangaza si kujisifu, bali ni matendo mema kuonekana ili watu wamtukuze Mungu.
Muhtasari:
Yesu anawataka wafuasi wake wasiwe kama ulimwengu (wasio na ladha au gizani), bali wawe na mabadiliko ya kimungu yanayoathiri jamii chanya na kumtukuza Baba wa mbinguni.
