The international day against drug abuse
Tarehe ishirini na sita mwezi huu ulimwengu utaathimisha siku ya kimataifa ya kupambana na madawa ya kulevya na ulaguzi (The international day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking).
This day is normally dedicated to raising awareness of the major problem that illicit and psychotropic drugs pose to the society.
From individuals struggling with substance abuse, to communities grappling with the consequences of drug trafficking and organized crime, the impact of drugs is far-reaching and complex.
So I will not dig deep into that for now but instead I will share with you some of the indicators or signs that will show you whether someone is affected by this hazard.
1. Being chronically late to work and lack of interest in your duties - this leads to poor work performance.
2. Changes in physical appearance - such as wearing inappropriate or dirty clothing and a lack of interest in grooming.
3. Altered behavior - such as an increased desire for privacy.
4. A significant lack of energy when performing daily activities(that is obvious)
5. Spending more money than usual -This is obvious because drug abuse is very expensive.
6. Issues with financial management - such as not paying bills on time or even not paying them at all.
7. Changes in appetite - such as a decreased appetite and associated weight loss
8. Bloodshot eyes and poor skin tone
9. Defensiveness when you ask them about substance use
So together let us reflect on these impacts and try to live a healthy, prosperous and fulfilling life free from drug abuse. Thank you. Have a safe working day.
So together, let us reflect on these impacts of drug abuse and amplify our efforts to combat this menace guided by the principles of compassion and solidarity.
And by doing so, we shall be able to create an environment where individuals are empowered to lead a healthy, prosperous and fulfilling life.
