Operating fire extinguisher

Before looking at the operational procedure, it's important to know that there are five different kinds of fire extinguishers. i.e. wet chemical, dry powder, CO2, foam and water. 
And the requirement for each depends on the type of fire.
You should also know  that fire is a blessing and a good servant to all of us, but it can also be dangerous and become a bad master if not controlled.
When this happens you require the fire extinguisher and for you to succeed in your mission you must know how to operate it.

PASS STRATEGY 
1.Pull the pin-The pin releases the locking mechanism of the extinguisher 

2.Aim at the base of the fire-you can effectively target the fuel source and suppress the flames more efficiently.

3.Squeeze the lever-depresses a button that releases the  extinguishing agent in the extinguisher.

4.Sweep from side to side -to cover all areas the fire may have spread to.

NB: A fire extinguisher is only useful when dealing with minor fires, often in emergency cases. It is not for useful when the fire has spread widely and is out-of-control. In this case the services and skills of fire brigades are required.
