Moses Wetangula Heads to Court In a Bid to Repossess Ford-Kenya

Estranged Ford- Kenya Party leader Moses Wetangula has moved to court to stop his former allies from capturing the party. Through his lawyer Ms. Eunice Lumallas, Wetangula moved to the Political Parties and Dispute Tribunal to deter the registrar of political parties Ms. Ann Nderitu from recognizing Mr. Wafula Wamunyinyi as the new Ford-Kenya party leader.

Ms. Lumallas said Ford-Kenya's National Executive Council did not sanction any meeting to remove the party leader, pointing fingers to the Kanduyi legislator and Dr. Eseli Simiyu for not approaching the party's disciplinary committee first if they had any underlying issues with the party leader and claimed that the documents they had presented to the registrar of political parties were forgeries.

"The applicant has every reason to believe that the documents presented to the registrar of political parties to effect the purported changes in the party leadership were forgeries, and the registrar of political parties can not act on them as it will be a violation of the constitution, and what we want is the status quo to be maintained in the list of the party's officials pending determination of the dispute," She said.

Wetangula blamed what he called 'outside forces' for his ouster, claiming that they funded his foes in the party to orchestrate this cowardice act, at the same time accusing Eseli Simiyu and Wafula Wamunyinyi of using back door to capture the party leadership.

The Bungoma senator also reiterated that any move by the registrar of political parties to make any changes in the party would be a criminal act of the highest degree, claiming that no letter was sent to him by Simiyu's team to notify him of the ouster.

The former minority leader in the senate also wanted the political parties and dispute tribunal to give them an immediate hearing contrary to the earlier communicated date of June 16, as they didn't want the registrar to bow to the pressure from 'outside forces' and effect the changes that were presented to her.
