Deputy President William Ruto Opens Jubilee Asili Center to House Estranged Members

The rift between Deputy President William Ruto and his boss President Uhuru Kenyatta continued to widen when the Deputy President opened a parallel Jubilee party office located along Makindu road, off Riara road in Nairobi's Kilimani area.

The offices dubbed Jubilee Asili Center initially hosted 20 members of parliament allied to the Deputy President, including those who were ousted from various parliamentary committees and leadership positions for supporting William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchuma Murkomen who was removed from the senate majority leader was also present and said they opted to open the new party offices to hold party meetings claiming that they had been denied access to Jubilee party headquarters in Pangani.

Murkomen also argued that Jubilee Asili was not a party but a meeting point for disgruntled members. "We had a meeting with the Deputy President at the Jubilee Asili Center. It's a center for all members, not parallel. It's the center for Jubilee party members who believe in the original idea of the party, including the implementation of the promises we gave to the people," He stated.

The Deputy President's communication director Emmanuel Talam also confirmed that they convened at the center for the good reason. "Yes it was to tell them that they have a responsibility to implement the Jubilee manifesto which brought the party to power in 2013 and 2017," He said.

That tangatanga meeting occurred a day after the kieleweke side welcomed Wiper's Kalonzo Musyoka and Isaac Ruto's CCM to their camp to sign a cooperation deal at the Jubilee party headquarters. Jubilee party's secretary-general Raphael Tuju and Vice-chairperson David Murathe were also present to witness the signing of the agreement.

Now it's clear that Jubilee's purge has led Deputy President William Ruto to fight back and the battle may not end any time soon. In a tweet, Ruto thanked his team for the good service to the party and  the nation.

"I had lunch with Jubilee members of parliament who were recently assigned other responsibilities in the party. Thanked them for the exemplary service to the party and the nation. I implored them to continue focusing on Jubilee's people-centered transformational agenda now and in the future. Sote pamoja," He said.

From these recent developments in Jubilee, it's crystal clear that Ruto's faction in the party is chanting its own slogans and navigating through its own path, a move that people across the board are watching closely to see its tail end.
