Aden Duale Kicked Out as Leader of Majority in The National Assembly

Aden Bare Duale has been officially ousted as the leader of the majority in the National assembly and has been replaced by Kipipiri member of parliament Amos Muhinga Kimunya, in what seems to be the final crucial blow to Jubilee party rebels who have had frosty relations with their party leader Uhuru Kenyatta in the recent past.

Jubilee party's parliamentary group meeting chaired by President Uhuru Kenyatta at the KICC has made this decision. In the new changes, Muturi Kigano will now chair the Justice, Legal Affairs and Human rights Committee, Kanini Kega will chair the Budget Committee, and Eldas member of parliament Adan Keynan becomes the new Coalition Secretary.

As of yesterday, Duale's removal from office was looming, with the member of parliament for Garissa Township eagerly waiting to know his fate after the die is cast. Jitters not only filled the Garissa Township legislator, but also other jubilee party members allied to the Deputy President William Ruto and who have been disloyal to the president.

Jubilee Vice-Chairperson David Murathe had earlier on hinted that Duale could lose his position in the fresh jubilee purge. In the last National assembly parliamentary group meeting held on June 2, 16 Jubilee party members lost their posts including Majority Whip Benjamin Washiali and his deputy nominated MP Cecily Mbarire.

In that meeting, Duale's case was left in abeyance, a calculated move that political analysts say was made to parry any threat from the warring Ruto allies who were never satisfied by any decision made by the kieleweke faction.

President Uhuru Kenyatta was in no doubt prepared to shower his political partners Wiper Democratic Movement, CCM, and KANU with government rewards, to continue enjoying more power in the committees as tangatanga members are battling to lead key committees in the house.

Much of the agenda at the KICC as expected was sanitizing and replacing Ruto allies who were kicked out of their positions in the last parliamentary group meeting held at state house Nairobi and that has exactly happened as Duale has been axed.

This indeed is a disappointment to the North Eastern politicians who had earlier on come out clearly to defend their son. "The majority leadership position was given to us because of the role we played in the election of President Uhuru Kenyatta. It was our right. Our man has not disappointed either," A member from Mandera said.

The lobbying to save Duale had earlier on been dealt a big blow when Kieni member of parliament Kanini Kega collected 120 signatures to oust the Garissa Township legislator.

After 13 years in active politics, the vocal MP has been one of the most influential politicians in the North Eastern region, but now the ground might shift with his political career.
